One of the written elements often requested for a faculty job application is a "teaching statement." Even if none of the colleges and universities to which you apply ask for a separate teaching statement, the thinking that you do about your teaching as you draft a teaching statement, will strengthen your cover letters and interviews.

This session is for those who have a draft teaching statement, and want to improve it. You are encouraged to explore the Canvas Academic Job Search module on Teaching Statements and Demonstrations in advance of this session.

We will briefly review what makes an effective statement. You will spend your time sharing your draft with another participants to get (and give) feedback. This is for PhDs and Postdocs who are applying for faculty positions.

Written materials for the faculty job search improve with feedback. Co-working sessions are a great time to get a fresh pair of eyes to read your draft materials and offer ideas. These sessions are organized opportunities for giving and getting peer feedback.

A career coach from the PhD-Postdoc team will also be available for questions.
