Considering career paths beyond academia but don’t know what those path look like? PhD Pathways is a year-round series of programs designed to introduce you to the wide range of roles and industries in which people with PhDs have found meaningful work. These events are designed to give you an initial sense of work of beyond academia, and to introduce the idea that reaching out to others for insight and guidance is so often the catalyst for career growth. Each panel features people who work in a particular industry sector, who come from a variety of disciplines of origin, and who work in different roles and for different employers.
This panel brings together people with PhDs, of diverse backgrounds and different points in their career paths, who have found meaningful work in roles related to writing, publishing, and creative media. We will start with a panel-style conversation with the panelists about their work, their paths from the PhD into their current positions, and their advice for you. There will be plenty of time for you to ask questions. We will also divide into breakout rooms, so that you can have more in depth conversations with individual panelists. This panel is part of the “PhD Pathways” series which grew out of our successful day-long PhD Pathways conference held annually. Each panel features people who work in a particular industry sector. The panelists represent a variety of disciplines of origin. They work in different roles and for different employers. PhD Pathways panels are one way to explore the range of options open to PhD-holders like you.
