Each quarter, ERE's Alumni Outreach Services team facilitates a discussion on a topic of interest to our alumni and other members of the department.
Prof. Richard Sears served as Chief Scientist for the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling. In this role, he provided expertise to the investigation and technical and policy recommendations to prevent future accidents. He is a contributing author of the Chief Counsel’s Report, detailing the technical and managerial factors leading to the blowout and spill.
We invite you hear how he used his education and work experience to address this industrial disaster, what he has learned in the decade since, and to explore what changes have been made to ensure an event like this doesn’toccurinthefuture.
This event will be a virtual discussion, starting with a 30-45 minute presentation, and followed by a Question and Answer session. You will be able to ask questions live, but we encourage you to submit questions in advance.
This is another great opportunity to learn from a leader in the industry and also to catch up with a friend and colleague at Stanford. Please join us for an engaging discussion.
