Naomi Oreskes, PhD '90 Interdisciplinary, is the 2021 recipient of the Stanford Earth Distinguished Alumni Award. Please join us for a seminar with Naomi about her career, life experiences, and reflections since her time at Stanford, and for a Q&A conversation with participants.

Geologist, science historian, and advocate, Naomi Oreskes is a globally recognized voice on the role of science in society and the reality of anthropogenic climate change. Her publications include The Rejection of Continental Drift; Plate Tectonics: An Insider’s History of the Modern Theory of the Earth; and The Merchants of Doubt. An affiliated professor in Earth and Planetary Sciences, Naomi is the Henry Charles Lea Professor of the History of Science at Harvard University where her research focuses on the Earth and environmental sciences, with a particular interest in the acceptance and rejection of scientific knowledge.
