Claire Miles is a data scientist with an Earth systems background (BS '17, MS '18) and currently works as a Remote Sensing Analyst at Ceres Imaging. She loves to dig into questions about sustainability and agriculture using geospatial data to address these issues.
Claire's documentary Centering The Narrative, which she filmed while a student at Stanford, is about how representation (or lack thereof) of diverse identities within Earth Systems and the School of Earth, Energy, and Environmental Sciences has impacted the experiences of students, faculty, and staff. Drawing from academic literature, interviews, and her experiences, Centering the Narrative aims to start the conversation about diversity in the environmental movement. After the screening, we will talk about the film and her current experiences pursuing a career in the geosciences, followed by Q&A. Dinner will be served. Event is hosted by Stanford Earth's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives and Educational Affairs.
