As title suggests, this is meant to be a very basic, supportive space approach for learning the basics of virtual learning platforms. The plan is to begin with zoom etiquette, then zoom features, then move on to canvas. Participants will be expected to practice using these features live, as well as accessing their canvas course tabs.

We will practice in zoom:

  • Creating a name/pronoun/position for your screen
  • Accessing sound/visual/background options
  • Practicing hand raising and lowering/using reactions
  • Chat etiquette and usage
  • Discussing bandwidth troubleshooting
  • Using breakout rooms
  • I will also briefly make everyone co-host so they can see
  • How to make and move between break out rooms
  • Creating new zoom meetings & Stanford norms

We will practice in Canvas:

  • Locating the page and your courses
  • Accessing materials in the files
  • Basics of finding files/videos

Time will be dedicated for specific questions that may have arisen as a result of specific course/faculty expectations for these platforms and to troubleshoot individual tech issues.
