The Bob Compton Funds help support field-based research in the geological sciences. Decisions on funding are made annually by a committee of faculty assigned by the department chair and the dean and will be based on their evaluation of a single-page request by each student with a scientific rationale for the proposed fieldwork and a budget. The request must be endorsed by the student's research advisor. Preference will be given to studies that are aligned with Bob Compton's main research interests: geologic mapping, igneous and metamorphic petrology, and structural geology.
The University has created financial programs specifically for graduate students dealing with challenging financial situations.
