Gerritsen was one of 15 faculty members honored at the 2022 Faculty Women's Forum for her exceptional work and role in supporting women at Stanford.

Eindhoven University of Technology awarded Gerritsen, a professor of energy resources engineering, for being a versatile mathematician and excelling in public outreach and education. 

 “We do not just want work with women at the exclusion of others. We do want to promote outstanding work by outstanding women, and show women they are not alone in this field,” says ERE professor Margot Gerritsen.  

Women in Data Science (WiDS) and Stanford Earth hosted a symposium to highlight the research done by women who use data science to assess a range of topics in the geosciences, including Earth processes, hazards, climate, and sustainability.

Garritsen is among ten faculty members named or reappointed Bass University Fellows for 2019-20 in recognition of their exceptional contributions to undergraduate education. 

The Stanford Natural Gas Initiative hosts the first big data workshop for students and industry leaders on data science techniques for better understanding and managing subsurface resources.

If asked to imagine a geologist, you might envision a tanned and dusty figure, hardy and weathered like the ancient rocks that he or she spends days studying out “in the field."
